SMM Hamburg Exhibitor Checklist: Stand Design, Deadlines & Costs for the Maritime Fair
SMM is the world's leading maritime trade fair — 2,000 exhibitors across 11 halls at Hamburg Messe. In August 2026 we handed over the twin-brand marine-power stand for KEXUN, SmartGen and GCE at Stall B5.135. Here is the checklist we ran on that project.
12 months to 6 months out
- Confirm stand location and size with the organiser — corner and island plots sell out first
- Decide if you are showcasing heavy equipment (engines, gensets): floor loading and forklift access shape the whole layout
- Brief your stand builder with product list, meeting needs and brand guidelines
- Approve 3D concept and fixed-price quote
6 months to 8 weeks out
- Submit technical drawings to Hamburg Messe for approval (height, rigging, double-deck)
- Order electrics, compressed air, water and internet from the venue
- Book heavy-exhibit logistics and crane/forklift slots
- Finalise graphics — bilingual English/German performs best in Hamburg

Custom SMM stands by Stagehook Global cost EUR 420–720 per sqm turnkey. A 60 sqm twin-brand corner like B5.135 — raised floor, product plinths, back-lit brand towers, lounge and storage — came in under EUR 36,000 including installation and dismantle. Hamburg Messe floor space is charged separately by the organiser.
